Read the news

November 26th, 2009

So I am one of those sad expats that sit and read the news daily of what is happening in South Africa. Now I am not here to compare all the different news stories from across the world and try and draw similarities between various governments. I am just interested in how another African country is going to be dragged down to the slums, all for the sake of political correctness. So, what is happening in South Africa?

Fact is corruption and the ineffective way the elected government is dealing with issues is causing chaos. And of course, when you read some of the blog articles available, and the lovely comments left by some readers it seems it is still all down to the white man. Bastards. Why the white man didn’t leave the black fellas to carry on with their culture and way of life, I don’t know.

But, as I am not a politician, I am merely inetrested in organisations that have to receive rescue packages from the taxpayer as they cannot meet their financial responsibilities anymore. It seems the SABC is next in line. Now that the SAA has finally managed to get rid of their previous (useless) CEO, the cracks are appearing in another organisation. This week the SA taxpayer had to stomp up another billion, just to solve some liquidity issues in the SABC.

What amazes me is the fact that with the loss of millions, how is it possible that these organisations, like the SAA, can spend millions on salaries for the top brass. Economics doesn’t make sense does it. Sipho, if you have a chequebook with 40 pages, it doesn’t mean you can just spend money by writing cheques. The bank account needs money in it to honour the cheques you fool.

I am glad I had the chance to get out of SA when I did. I feel sorry for my countrymen – the white European settlers that built that country. But then, the sooner we let them have control over everything in Africa, the sooner colonialists will have to return. To fix it again.
